Why we love Jessica Alba
A regular in the top ten of FHM‘s 100 Sexiest list, based purely on honeyed skin, a drum-taut Latino body and her wilful disregard of why we’re all so desperate to see the upcoming Sin City sequel. Motherhood and marriage have seen her become more three-dimensional (as in, literally) of late, but thankfully her love of a good bikini scene has made it through the maturing process unscathed.
Jessica Alba started her acting career at the tender age of 13 in the film Camp Nowhere in which she caught a bit of a break – a smaller role became a central one after one of the more prominent actresses dropped out last minute. After that she had a spell in television, before a part in the 1999 film Never Been Kissed which started to get her name known. She capitalised on that by successfully landing the lead role in James Cameron’s TV series Dark Angel in 2000, in what those in the business (and Jim Davidson) would call her big break.
It’s all been pretty good for Jessica Alba since then, with roles in Honey, Sin City and Fantastic Four. She got us pretty excited when she had a nude shower scene in Machete, but then it turned out she wasn’t nude at all and our dreams were shattered. Her role as a prostitute in The Killer Inside Me was a decision that got mad acting props, even if it made everyone else feel funny and a little uncomfortable as she gets beaten to death. But more of that please Jessica, (the acting we mean, not the uncool violence) and less of stuff like Little Fockers, yeah?

Why we love Fearne Cotton
Not only do you think you know Fearne Cotton thanks to her umpteen million column inches and lots of telly time, you might also be forgiven for thinking you might – just might – be in with a chance. Boyfriends come and go, and the former art student from London even once shacked up with some numpty from Fame Academy.
She’s more H&M than Hermes, which makes her all the more desirable, and the fact that she once told Jonathan Ross that she has 11 tattoos hidden away on her body only adds to the allure. Fun, feisty and just a little bit flirty, Fearne is exactly our kind of girl.
If Fearne said in an interview ‘I’m not really a celebrity, I just like normal stuff like eating scotch eggs in a park with my friends on a sunny day,’ we’d be inclined to believe her. She might have an incredibly loud radio voice, and her almost constant optimism might be a little intense, but by and large she seems like an absolute hoot.
Fearne Cotton’s been in America of late, presenting a Guinness World Records show. Which is great, but we’d much prefer to have her back over here on our screens. Which she will be soon. Not the kind of music you might expect from a girl who grew up in Kentucky – where are the banjos? – but Nicole Scherzinger is an exotic beauty who loves surprising us, having tried everything from rock to pop to, most successfully, pulsating r ‘n’ b. A former winner of the US version of Popstars, Nicole Scherzinger has long seemed destined for the big time, but it was as the leading light in “burlesque” American troupe the Pussycat Dolls that she really made it, thanks in no small part to four minutes of musical sex called Don’t Cha. Her signature move is the booty shake, which may just have something to do with her mum, who was once a pro hula dancer.
Having outgrown her lead singer status and branched out solo, Nicole Scherzinger went in search of the ultimate A-list celebrity’s accessory, another A-list celebrity. She found him in the shape of 2008 F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton, who was obviously just like every other bloke and never channel hopped past a music channel playing a Pussycat Dolls video. In 2010 the F1 Wags rivalry moved a step closer to home as Jenson Button brought Jessica Michibata in to the McLaren garage, but so far the pair have failed to scrap. Sadly.
Nicole Scherzinger’s solo career didn’t take off at quite the same speed though, with her debut album Her Name is Nicole being shelved after numerous delays. Still, you can’t keep a good cat down, and Nicole Scherzinger confirmed in 2010 that she was working on another solo album for release in 2012. In the meantime, Nicole Scherzinger has found time to present The X Factor and jam with Prince and 50 Cent. Most excitingly, Nicole Scherzinger will be adding ‘Film Star’ to her CV in 2012, when she appears in Men In Black III.

Why we love Dianna Agron
If you’re thinking that Dianna Agron’s surname is a bit weird, that’s because it was changed by Ellis Island officials back in the day when her father’s Russian family emigrated to the great US of A. If it weren’t for early 20th Century xenophobia in America, she’d be called Dianna Agronsky instead, which makes more sense but is, admittedly, a bit less memorable.
Dianna’s role as cheerleader Quinn Fabray on honestly-we-don’t-watch-it-it’s-just-on-in-the-background Glee has a basis in truth – she’s been dancing since she was 3 years old. Well. Not literally – her feet would come off, surely – but she’s certainly been active since the age of three, and started teaching dance lessons as a teenager at High School. Which is fairly remarkable.
Her film debut was in When a Stranger Calls, a slasher flick, where she also played a cheerleader – elsewhere, you might have seen her in Heroes (where she plays, um, a cheerleader again), Burlesque (where she plays, shockingly, a non-cheerleader) and I Am Number Four, where an alien falls in love with her. But he’s a good-looking humanoid alien played by Alex Pettyfer, and not a cloud of sentient gas or an hovering shard of hyperintelligent crystal, so that’s okay.
If you’re after a quick hit of Dianna to get you through the day, you could do worse than checking her out in the web series It’s A Mall World After All in which she plays a greeter for American Eagle (who paid for the show) and a hapless record store employee tries to get off with her. It’s not great, but when she smiles at the camera we swear we can hear even the angels sighing.

In 2011 Bar Refaeli moved back in to acting as the lead role in a film called Sessions. You probably haven’t seen it. You’re more likely to have seen her guest appearance as a judge on Germany’s Next Top Model hosted by Heidi Klum. In which she presumably stalled for time so she didn’t have to tell the contestents that they will never, ever be as hot as her.

Why we love Jade Thirlwall
Do you watch The X Factor? We’ll be honest – we don’t. We can’t summon up the sheer amount of care needed to sit through hours of the half-decent wheat being threshed from the chaff of Britain’s masses, and instead prefer to catch the acts that win when they have a stab at a proper career after the show finishes.
Jade is part of one of those lucky acts – Little Mix, they’re called, formerly known as Rhythmix – even though she was turned away as a solo performer in the 2011 show, she was approached afterwards and asked if she wanted to return as part of a group. Well, she did, and they managed to win, making them the first group ever to survive the entire contest without getting kicked out. Good work there, Little Mix.
Jade was a top performer at school, earning no fewer than 15 GSCEs and being crowned Head Girl back in the day. But this swot-like ability meant that she was picked on by her classmates, who’d “throw things at her head”, which is entirely unfair. Still, she’s done all right for herself, no? Maybe we should have listened harder in school, too. We could have made something of ourselves.
She’s bessie mates with Joe McElderry, 2009’s X-Factor winner, and the pair of them used to duet together. No romance there, though, as she and the other girls have been sworn off boys so they can concentrate on their touring and recording schedule. Sorry about that, everyone.
